8. AUTHORIZE RFP: CONSTRUCTION MANAGER SERVICES FOR THE ALHAMBRA\nCOMMUNITY CENTER – F2M25-32, RFP2M25-6\nThe Alhambra Community Center Project aims to construct a 17,000-square-foot\nCommunity Center Building on the existing Health Center site, located on 612 West Shorb\nStreet between Sixth and Seventh Streets. The project will develop 9,000 square feet of\nadaptive reuse on the western portion of the existing building and construct 8,000 square\nfeet of new building space. The City of Alhambra intends to hire a construction manager\nfor the “CM Multi-Prime” project delivery of the Alhambra Community Center project. The\nMulti-Prime method differs from a general contractor given that the City contracts directly\nwith multiple, independent prime contractors for various aspects of the project. By doing\nso, the City can reduce the project's cost. The City will secure the services of a multi-prime\nconstruction manager to deliver the Project in a timely and cost-effective manner. The\nconstruction manager will provide necessary input related to the project’s constructability,\ncontractor selection, and oversight of the contractor's performance while representing the\nbest interests of the City to ensure a quality, cost-effective project that is completed on\nschedule and within budget. Sealed Proposals are due no later than 5:30 p.m. on\nThursday, May 22, 2025 at the Parks and Recreation Department.\nRecommended Action: City Council authorize staff to circulate a Request for\nProposals to contract for Construction Manager Services for the Alhambra Community\nCenter Project; and, direct staff to undertake the steps necessary to finalize Council’s\naction.
