25. CONSIDERATION OF AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2.48 OF THE\nALHAMBRA MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING PROMOTIONAL EXAMS – F2M25-2,\nO2M25-4846\nPeriodically amendments are needed to the Alhambra Municipal Code (“AMC”) based\nupon changes in legislation and issues arising in implementation of the AMC. This\nproposed ordinance makes amendments to AMC subsections 2.48.030 and 2.48.090(B).\nThe AMC currently prohibits part-time employees from applying for full-time promotional\nexaminations. This limits the available talent pool for positions and limits opportunities for\npart-time employees to advance their careers with the City. An amendment to the two\nsubsections cited is necessary to allow eligible part-time/hourly employees to apply and\nto provide more promotional opportunities for the City’s part-time/hourly employees.\nRecommended Action: City Council declare introduced for its first reading the\nfollowing ordinance entitled:\nOrdinance No. O2M25-4846: An Ordinance of the Alhambra City Council\namending Chapter 2.48 of the Alhambra Municipal Code concerning\npromotional exams\nwhich ordinance will return for a second reading and adoption at the next regular Council\nmeeting.
