4. DISCUSSION REGARDING ENVIRONMENTAL INCOMPATIBILITY OF23-1118\nMODEL AIRCRAFT FLYING FIELD AT FAIRVIEW PARK AND\nCONSIDERATION OF STAFF’S RECOMMENDATION TO CLOSE THE\nMODEL AIRCRAFT FLYING FIELD TO PROTECT SENSITIVE AND\nRARE SPECIES AND HABITATS AT THE SITE\nRECOMMENDATION:\nStaff recommends the City Council provide direction to staff regarding whether\nto permanently close the Fairview Park model aircraft flying field, and terminate\nthe model aircraft individual flyer permit system due to environmental\nincompatibility, safety issues, and infeasibility with required resource protection\nmeasures at the site, based on additional feedback provided by State and\nFederal regulatory agencies and a more exhaustive review of all available\ninformation regarding the rare and/or protected species and habitats located at\nFairview Park.\nAttachments: 1. 1998 Adopted Fairview Park Master Plan\n2.
