11. Authorizing the Execution of Side Letter Agreements Amending the Memorandums of\nUnderstandings Between the City of La Verne and the La Verne City Employees’\nAssociation, La Verne Police Officers’ Association, and the La Verne Firefighters’\nAssociation Regarding Education Incentives. In February and again in April, the City Council\napproved Side Letter Agreements to the Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with the La\nVerne City Employees’ Association (CEA), La Verne Police Officers’ Association (POA), and La\nVerne Firefighters’ Association (LFVA) that formalized tentative agreements on language\nchanges needed for compliance with California Public Employees Retirement System\n(CalPERS) requirements. After further discussion with CalPERS, each of the respective side\nletters requires additional modification to be in compliance.\nRecommendation: That the City Council:\n1. Authorize the City Manager to execute a Side Letter Agreement amending the\nMemorandum of Understanding between the City of La Verne and the La Verne City\nEmployees’ Association;\n2. Authorize the City Manager to execute a Side Letter Agreement amending the\nMemorandum of Understanding between the City of La Verne and the La Verne Police\nOfficers’ Association; and\n3. Authorize the City Manager to execute a Side Letter Agreement amending the\nMemorandum of Understanding between the City of La Verne and the La Verne\nFirefighters’ Association.
