16.\nACCEPTANCE OF FY 2024 URBAN AREA SECURITY INITIATIVE GRANT AND\nAPPROPRIATION OF GRANT REVENUES AND EXPENDITURES – F2M1-106,\nC2M25-27, M2M25-88\nAs a designated Core City, the City of Los Angeles is eligible for additional funding through\nthe Urban Area Strategic Security Initiative (UASI) Grant Program that is administered by\nthe Department of Homeland Security. In addition to the Core City, individual cities that\nare contiguous to the City of Los Angeles are also eligible for funding. Under this UASI\ngrant program, the Police and Fire Departments jointly submitted a grant request for\nMobile Data Computers for the Police Department and for Urban Search and Rescue\nequipment and training, regional task force equipment, and Regional Training Center\nmaintenance for the Fire Department. On May 27, 2025, the Approval Authority, which\nadministers the UASI Grant Program, announced funds had been approved for the Police\nDepartment in the sum of $120,000 and for the Fire Department the sum of $173,000 for\nthe various equipment and training items. Staff is requesting the City Council authorize\nthe acceptance of UASI grant funds as prescribed above.\nRecommended Action:\nCity Council accept the 2024 Urban Area Strategic Security\nInitiative Grant (UASI) in the amount of $293,000; direct the Finance Director to amend\nthe City’s 2025-2026 Adopted Budget by increasing the Police Department revenue by\n$120,000 in account 101.20.42401 and appropriating $120,000 in account\n101.20.2010.99400 and increasing the Fire Department revenue by $173,000 in account\n101.30.42401 and appropriating $173,000 in account 101.30.3610.99400; authorize the\nCity Manager or designee to execute the grant documents; and, direct staff to undertake\nthe steps necessary to finalize Council’s action.
