E. ADOPTION OF A RESOLUTION APPROVING A LAND AND WATER\nCONSERVATION FUND PROGRAM GRANT APPLICATION [RESOLUTION\nNO. 25-31]\nThe City of San Gabriel has the opportunity to apply for Land and Water\nConservation Fund (LWCF) grant funds through the National Park Service,\nadministered by California Department of Parks and Recreation. With this\nfunding, the state will award approximately $35 million in competitive grants\nfor acquisition or development projects for outdoor recreation opportunities in\ncommunities across California. If awarded, the City would use LWCF funding for\nthe renovation of Smith Park Pool and the replacement of the playground at\nthe northeast corner of Smith Park. While there is no fiscal impact at this time\nas staff is simply requesting approval of the Resolution to apply for the grant\nfunding, should the grant be funded, there is a match requirement of 50% of\nthe awarded amount. Should the grant be funded, the item will be brought\nback to City Council for acceptance and appropriations of the funds needed to\nmeet the match requirement.\nCalifornia Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Determination: Not a Project as\ndefined in Section 15378 of the State CEQA Guidelines.\nRecommended Action:\nStaff recommends that the City Council adopt Resolution No. 25-31 approving\nthe City’s application for grant funds through the Land and Water Conservation\nFund Grant Program.
