9.7 ADOPT RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF SENATE BILL 627 AND SENATE BILL 805 IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT AND IDENTIFICATION, AND TAKE RELATED\nACTIONS\nComments:\nSenate Bill 627, introduced by California Senator Anthony Weiner, known as the No\nSecret Police Act, makes it a crime for a law enforcement officer to wear any mask or\npersonal disguise while interacting with the public in the performance of their duties.\nSenate Bill 805, introduced by California Senator Sasha Renée Pérez, known as the No\nVigilantes Act, aims to expand police impersonation laws.\nGiven the City of Lynwood’s commitment to the welfare of immigrant communities,\nsupporting these pieces of legislation align with the City’s values and priorities. (CM)\nRecommendation:\nStaff recommends that the City Council:\n1. Adopt resolution in support of Senate Bill 627 (Weiner) Law enforcement: masks;\nand Senate Bill 805 (Pérez) Crimes; and\n2. Authorize the Mayor to send a letter of support to the authors of the bills.
