10.2 DISCUSSION ON THE CREATION OF A CITY OF LYNWOOD JUSTICE FUND AND\nCONSIDERATION OF APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS TO SUPPORT THE JUSTICE\nFUND\nComments:\nThe City of Lynwood is exploring the creation of a Justice Fund to provide free legal\nrepresentation and community-based support services to residents who face deportation\nor are seeking lawful immigration relief but cannot afford legal counsel. This effort aims to\nensure that individuals have fair access to the legal system, especially in cases where\nlack of representation may threaten their ability to remain with their families and\ncommunities. (CM)\nRecommendation:\nStaff recommends that the City Council discuss and provide direction regarding the\npotential creation of a Justice Fund for the City of Lynwood, modeled after the City of\nLong Beach’s Long Beach Justice Fund (LBJF). The City Council will also consider the\nappropriation of $50,000 to support the implementation of a Justice Fund.
