14.\nApproval of an Exception to the 180-Day California Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS)\nWait Period for a Retired Annuitant Under Government Code Sections 7522.56 and 21224 and\nAuthorization to Execute an Employment Agreement with Elizabeth G. Pereida to fill a Critical\nNeed in the Communication Operations Bureau of the Police Department\nIt is recommended that the City Council:\n1. Approve and adopt Resolution No. 2025-028 approving an exception to the 180-day CalPERS\nwaiting period for a retired annuitant, in accordance with Government Code Sections 7522.56\nand 21224.\n2. Authorize the Chief Executive Officer and Human Resources/Risk Manager to reinstate\nElizabeth G. Pereida as a retired annuitant prior to the 180-day wait period and provide\nauthorization to execute an Employment Agreement with Elizabeth G. Pereida at a rate of\n$34.4271 per hour effective July 28, 2025 through June 30, 2026, and may end sooner, to fill a\ncritical need position in the Communication Operations Bureau of the Police Department.
