9C. CITY COUNCIL CONSIDERATION OF OPTING INTO SETTLEMENT AGREEMENTS\nWITH THE FOLLOWING DEFENDANTS WHO HAVE ENTERED INTO NATIONAL\nOPIOID SETTLEMENTS - TEVA; ALLERGAN; WALMART; WALGREENS; AND CVS\nConsideration of opportunity to opt into federal settlement agreements with defendants\nwho have entered into National Opioid Settlements: Teva, Allergan, Walmart,\nWalgreens, and CVS.\nRECOMMENDED ACTION:\n1. City Council declare that this item is not subject to the California Environmental\nQuality Act (“CEQA”) pursuant to Sections 15060(c)(2) and 15060(c)(3); and\n2. Opt into settlement agreement with three pharmacy chains — CVS, Walgreens, and\nWalmart and direct the City Manager to execute any documents necessary to\nimplement the action and, when possible, allocate the City’s designated share of\nsettlement funds to the County of Orange; and\n3. Opt into settlement agreement with two opioid manufacturers — Allergan and Teva\nand direct the City Manager to execute any documents necessary to implement the\naction and, when possible, allocate the City’s designated share of settlement funds\nto the County of Orange.\nMarch 28, 2023
