20.\nRATIFY THE ACCEPTANCE OF GRANT FUNDS FROM CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY\nPATROL CANNABIS TAX FUND PROGRAM – F2M25-18, R2M25-32, M2M25-113\nThe goal of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) grant is to educate the public about the\ndangers of impaired driving, enforce laws related to impaired driving on the road, and\nenhance the effectiveness of the Alhambra Police Department (APD) through training and\nthe development of new strategies. The APD plans to utilize funding in Fiscal Year 202526 to conduct saturation patrol operations focused on driving under the influence (DUI),\ntargeting alcohol, other drugs, and cannabis products. The funding will cover the purchase\nof two fully outfitted, marked police vehicles for use during DUI operations. It will also\nprovide funding for chemical devices that help identify the presence of various drugs on\nintoxicated motorists and will cover personnel expenses for patrol officers attending DUIrelated training. Due to summer recess the City Manager accepted this grant; therefore,\nstaff is requesting the City Council ratify the acceptance and direct the City Clerk to send\na copy of the resolution to CHP.\nRecommended Action:\nCity Council ratify the acceptance of the California Highway\nPatrol (CHP) Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program funds in the amount of $488,185.80;\nAdopt Resolution No. R2M25-32 entitled: A Resolution of the City Council of the City of\nAlhambra, California, ratifying the acceptance of funds from Cannabis Tax Fund Grant\nProgram; appropriate $488,185.80 in revenue and expenditure funds in the 2025-26 Fiscal\nYear Budget to implement grant activities: instruct the City Clerk to send a certified copy\nof the adopted Resolution to CHP; and, direct staff to take the steps necessary steps to\nfinalize Council’s action.
