3.\nCITY OF ALHAMBRA OBJECTIVE DESIGN STANDARDS AND DESIGN GUIDELINES\nPROJECT – F2M24-42\nAs part of the ongoing Objective Design Standards and Design Guidelines work effort, the\nCity, in partnership with RRM Design Group, completed a series of community outreach\nand engagement efforts over the last several months. The purpose of the outreach and\nengagement efforts were to inform the community about the scope of the project, describe\nthe importance of objective design standards and design guidelines, and solicit feedback\non design topics to inform future design guidelines for specific focus areas, including the\nEast Main Corridor (EMC), Central Business District (CBD), West Main Corridor, and\nValley Boulevard. Objective Design Standards for multi-family residential development will\nalso be created in this work effort, be applied city-wide to ensure high quality design\nstandards, and be aligned with State mandated housing legislation which requires local\njurisdictions to eliminate any subjectivity in the architectural review of housing\ndevelopments. The new multi-family objective design standards for multi-family\ndevelopments will provide additional clarity to architects and designers so that future\nprojects will be complimentary to existing neighborhoods. Overall, the community outreach\nseries generated valuable feedback that RRM will incorporate as they move forward with\nfinalizing the updated Objective Design Standards and finalizing the development of\nspecific Design Guidelines for the identified focus areas (Valley Boulevard, West\nMain/CBD, and EMC). Following the presentation, the project team will move forward with\npreparing focus area Design Guidelines and finalizing an update of the existing objective\ndesign standards to be presented for adoption through the public hearing process.\nRecommended Action:\nCity Council receive and file this report, or direct staff as\ndeemed appropriate in providing further direction on the development of the final\ndeliverables for the Objective Design Standards and Design Guidelines project.\nCONSENT AGENDA (Item Nos. 4 – 32)\nAll items listed under the Consent Agenda are considered by the City Council to be routine and\nwill be enacted by one motion unless a citizen or Council member requests otherwise; in which\ncase, the item will be removed for separate consideration.
