15.b SECOND READING/ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE NO. 2022-1216 ADOPTED\nBY THE VOTERS AT THE NOVEMBER 8, 2022 ELECTION TO APPROVE AN\nINCREASE IN THE TRANSIENT OCCUPANCY TAX. (0430-95)\n\nCity Attorney Lyon reported on the item. She stated this is an administrative item,\nthe ordinance was approved by the voters, and the City Council is being asked to\ndo the second reading and adoption of the ordinance to increase the Transient\nOccupancy Tax rate pursuant to voter approval at the November election.\n\nPublic comments: None.\n\nCity Clerk Kelly read the title of Ordinance No. 2022-1216 "AN ORDINANCE OF\nTHE CITY OF IMPERIAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION\n3.24.030A OF CHAPTER 3.24 OF THE IMPERIAL BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE\nTO INCREASE THE CITY’S TRANSIENT OCCUPANCY TAX FROM 10% TO\n14% OF THE RENTS CHARGED TO LODGING AND HOTEL GUESTS\nEFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2023."\n\nMotion by Councilmember Aguirre\nSeconded by Councilmember Leyba-Gonzalez\n\nTo conduct the second reading/adoption of Ordinance No. 2022-1216 pursuant\nto the City Council's previous action to approve a resolution which certified and\ndeclared the results of the voters of Imperial Beach at the November 8, 2022\nelection. |\n\nAYES (4): Mayor Pro Tem Fisher, Councilmember Leyba-Gonzalez,\nCouncilmember Aguirre, and Councilmember Spriggs\n\nABSENT (1): Mayor Dedina\nMotion Carried (4 to 0)
