Proclaiming the Month of October 2023 as “LGBTQ+ History Month” and\nOctober 11, 2023 as “National Coming Out Day”\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Horvath: Proclaim the month of\nOctober 2023 as “LGBTQ+ History Month” and October 11, 2023, as “National\nComing Out Day” throughout Los Angeles County; and take the following\nactions:\nDirect the Chief Executive Officer, through the Countywide\nCommunications Office, along with all County Departments, and request\nthat the Sheriff, District Attorney, Assessor, and Superintendent of\nSchools of the Los Angeles County Office of Education, to work with the\nCounty Librarian and the Director of Arts and Culture , in promoting and\nsponsoring their LGBTQ+ History Month related events, programs, and\nresources, including on respective websites and social media platforms;\nand\nDirect the Chief Executive Officer to work with the County Librarian and\nthe Director of Arts and Culture , to uplift and encourage attendance to\nONE Institute’s LGBTQ+ History Festival, CIRCA, happening during the\nmonth of October, or LGBTQ+ History Month; and\nDirect the Chief Executive Officer to work with County Departments, the\nLos Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and relevant\ncommunity-based organizations, to report back to the Board in writing in\n120 days on an annual Countywide event, to begin in October of 2024,\nthat celebrates LGBTQ+ History Month.
