3. Proclaiming September 22, 2023, as “Rev. James Lawson, Jr. Day” in Los\nAngeles County\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisors Mitchell and Solis: Proclaim\nSeptember 22, 2023 as “Rev. James Lawson, Jr. Day” throughout Los Angeles\nCounty, to acknowledge Rev. Lawson’s 95th birthday, and celebrate his\nremarkable achievements to advance the philosophy of nonviolence, end racial\ndiscrimination, strengthen workers’ rights, and promote human dignity; and\ninstruct the Director of Consumer and Business Affairs, in partnership with the\nExecutive Director of Racial Equity, and all other relevant County Departments,\nto launch a “know your rights” campaign for the month of October 2023, in Rev.\nLawson's honor, with the campaign to inform unincorporated County residents\nabout their rights and protections in the workplace and include strategies to\nutilize hyper ethnic local media to target historically marginalized communities\nand vulnerable populations as they continue to recover from the COVID-19\npandemic, and plans to leverage partnerships with community-based\norganizations to assist in on-the-ground outreach.
