72. Heights Hopper Shuttle Services Contract\nRecommendation: Find that shuttle services can be performed more\neconomically by an independent contractor; award and instruct the Chair to\nsign a contract with Southland Transit, Inc., for Heights Hopper shuttle services\nin the unincorporated County communities of Hacienda Heights and Rowland\nHeights (1), for a period of one year with four one-year and six month-to-month\nextension options, for a maximum potential contract term of 66 months and a\nmaximum potential contract amount of $5,266,120; authorize the Director of\nPublic Works to exercise the extension options if, in the opinion of the Director,\nthe contractor has successfully performed during the previous contract period,\nand the services are still required, approve and execute amendments to\nincorporate necessary changes within the scope of work, suspend work if it is\nin the best interest of the County, and annually increase the contract amount up\nto an additional 10% of the annual contract amount, which is included in the\nmaximum potential contract amount, for unforeseen additional work within the\nscope of the contract, if required; and find that the contract work is exempt from\nthe California Environmental Quality Act.
