10. Proclaiming August 13, 2023 as “Pelota de Trapo Day” in Los Angeles\nCounty\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisors Horvath and Hahn: Proclaim\nAugust 13, 2023, as “Pelota de Trapo Day” in Los Angeles County, in honor of\nPope Francis’ 10-year papacy, as well as Scholas Occurrentes’ 10-year\nAnniversary, and to amplify his goal of supporting and empowering young\npeople in Los Angeles and around the world through sports and community, as\nwell as the sport values he promotes regarding the upcoming world-impact\nevents in some of the country cities; and encourage all County Departments\nworking with young people, in particular the Departments of Children and\nFamily Services, Youth Development, Probation, Mental Health, Arts and\nCulture, Parks and Recreation, and Beaches and Harbors, the Los Angeles\nCounty Office of Education, and all 88 cities to participate in the Pelota de\nTrapo Campaign and facilitate opportunities for young people to engage in\ncommunity building and youth development through sports.
