46. Landscape Maintenance Services Contracts\nRecommendation: Find that landscape maintenance services in the\nunincorporated County communities of Montebello, Hacienda Heights, Rowland\nHeights, and other areas within the First Supervisorial District (1) can be\nperformed more economically by independent contractors; award and instruct\nthe Chair to sign a contract with Mariposa Landscapes, Inc., for Landscape\nMaintenance Services for East Los Angeles Group 1 Zone of Montebello and\nother adjacent areas, for a period of one year, with five one-year and six\nmonth-to-month extension options, for a maximum potential contract term of 78\nmonths and a maximum potential contract amount of $2,390,626; and instruct\nthe Chair to sign a contract with Azteca Landscape, Inc., for Landscape\nMaintenance Services for East Los Angeles Group 2 zones of Hacienda\nHeights, Rowland Heights, and other adjacent areas, for a period of one year,\nwith five one-year and six month-to-month extension options, for a maximum\npotential contract term of 78 months and a maximum potential contract amount\nof $1,391,665; find that the contract work is exempt from the California\nEnvironmental Quality Act; and authorize the Director of Public Works to take\nthe following actions: (Department of Public Works) APPROVE\nExercise the extension options if, in the opinion of the Director, Mariposa\nLandscapes, Inc., and Azteca Landscape, Inc., have successfully\nperformed during the previous contract period and these services are still\nrequired to approve and execute amendments to incorporate necessary\nchanges within the scope of work and to suspend work, if it is in the best\ninterest of the County; and\nAnnually increase the contracts' amounts up to an additional 10% of the\nannual contract amounts, which is included in each of the maximum\npotential contract amounts for unforeseen additional work within the\nscope of these contracts, if required.
