6. Refugee Employment and Acculturation Services Capacity Enhancements\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Hahn: Instruct the Director of\nPublic Social Services to prepare and execute a contract amendment\naugmenting the Refugee Employment and Acculturation Services (REAS)\ncontract with JVS SoCal by $1,930,688 to immediately address the needs of a\ngrowing refugee population; prepare and execute a new sole source agreement\nwith Catholic Charities of Los Angeles to supplement JVS SoCal’s effort in\nserving the growing REAS caseload in an amount not to exceed $2,500,000 and\nsubject to identification of available funding; and in consultation with the Chief\nExecutive Officer, identify additional sources of funding to effectively expand\nrefugee services, including advocacy in Sacramento, in Washington D.C. and\nexplore the possible utilization of American Recovery Act funding for this\npurpose.
