3. Support for Assembly Bill 957 (Wilson): The Transgender,\nGender-Diverse, Intersex Youth Empowerment Act\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Horvath: Direct the Chief\nExecutive Officer, through the Legislative Affairs and Intergovernmental\nRelations Branch, to support Assembly Bill 957 (Wilson), legislation which would\nclarify that affirming a child’s gender identity is in the best interest of the child\nand integral to the health, safety and welfare of the child in the California Family\nCode, increasing the likelihood that a gender affirming parent is given legal\ncustody and authority to make important decisions about the child’s medical\ncare and education; and direct the County’s Legislative Advocates in\nSacramento to take the appropriate legislative advocacy actions to advance this\neffort.
