19. Proclaiming June 2023 as “Fatherhood Well-being Month” in Los Angeles\nCounty\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Mitchell: Declare the month of\nJune 2023 as “Fatherhood Well-being Month” throughout Los Angeles County,\nin support of House Resolution 36, introduced by Assemblymember Mike\nGipson; direct the Chief Executive Officer to report back to the Board in writing\nwithin 180 days identifying service gaps and recommendations to improve\npublic social service access for fathers; convene community stakeholders and\nrelevant County Departments, including the Departments of Public Social\nServices, Child Support Services, Public Health, Mental Health, Children and\nFamily Services, Economic Opportunity, and the Anti-Racism, Diversity, and\nInclusion Initiative, to discuss ways in which the County can better serve fathers\nto access public benefits and remain involved in their children’s lives; and\ninstruct the Director of Public Health to target education and awareness related\nto common health issues affecting men, with these services and partnerships to\ninclude free health screenings for men, including blood pressure, cholesterol,\nblood glucose, and prostate exams, collaboration with community-based\norganizations for care coordination to connect men with healthcare providers\nand resources in the community, and a public health awareness campaign\nfocused on men’s health and well-being.
