D. ORDINANCE NO. 721 RELATING TO TRANSIENT OCCUPANCY TAX –\nSECOND READING AND ADOPTION\nOrdinance No. 721 makes an administrative update to the San Gabriel\nMunicipal Code to reflect the increase in the City’s Transient Occupancy Tax\nrate from 10% to 12%, as approved by voters in the March 5, 2013 election. This\nupdate is administrative in nature and ensures the Municipal Code aligns with\nthe tax rate already in effect. Ordinance No. 721 was introduced and the first\nreading was conducted by title only by a 5-0 vote of the City Council at the\nAugust 19, 2025 City Council meeting. There is no fiscal impact related to this\nitem.\nCalifornia Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Determination: Not a project as\ndefined in Section 15378 of the State CEQA Guidelines.\nRecommended Action:\nStaff recommends that the City Council waive full reading and adopt Ordinance\nNo. 721 updating the San Gabriel Municipal Code to reflect the increase in the\nCity’s Transient Occupancy Tax rate from 10% to 12%, as approved by voters in\nthe March 5, 2013 election.
