19.\nAUTHORIZATION TO DISTRIBUTE REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS AND\nPROPOSALS TO PROVIDE LEGAL SERVICES AND TO SERVE AS LEGAL ADVISOR\nTO THE ALHAMBRA CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION – F2M25-52, RFP2M25-22\nThe City has contracted with Best Best & Krieger for legal counsel services to the\nAlhambra Civil Service Commission since 2006. Since then, the contract with Best Best &\nKrieger was extended and/or renewed. The most recent contract was entered into in 2020\n10\nwith a not to exceed contract limit of $25,000. Most recently, in July 2025, an amendment\nwas entered into to increase the original contract amount from not to exceed $25,000 to\n$37,000 to cover recent legal services costs. As part of City Staff’s commitment to\ncontinually research options and ensure costs are competitive, it is necessary to seek\nqualifications and proposals from qualified firms that are equipped to provide not only legal\ncounsel but also serve as legal advisor to the Alhambra Civil Service Commission.\nRecommended Action:\nCity Council authorize the distribution of Request for\nQualifications and Proposals to provide legal services to the Alhambra Civil Service\nCommission; and, direct staff to undertake the steps necessary to finalize Council’s action.
