12.\nAUTHORIZE RFP: PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES TO UPDATE THE\nENGINEERING STANDARDS FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS AND UTILITIES\nDEPARTMENT – F2M25-50, RFP2M25-20\nThe City’s Public Works Standards were last updated about 40 years ago and the Utilities\nStandards were last updated in 2004. The City Standard Engineering Plans provide\nuniform design, construction guidelines, and standards for implementing public and private\nprojects. This update will include review of the existing standards, coordination with\nmultiple City Departments/Divisions, development of recommended revisions, preparation\nof draft documents for City staff review, and preparation of final improvements standards\nand specifications for adoption. The Standard Plans are to be used in conjunction with the\nupdated edition of the Standard Plans and Specifications.\nRecommended Action:\nCity Council approve the distribution of a Request for\nProposals (RFP) for Professional Engineering Services to Update the Engineering\nStandards for the Public Works and Utilities Department, with proposals due no later than\n4:00 p.m. on October 16, 2025; and, direct staff to undertake the steps necessary to\nfinalize the Council’s action.
