11.8\nConsideration of a Resolution Approving Grant Agreement No.\nPT26105 Between the City of Bell Gardens and the California\nOffice of Traffic Safety\nRECOMMENDATION: It is staff’s recommendation that the City\nCouncil adopt the attached Resolution approving Grant Agreement\nNo. PT26105 with the State of California - Office of Traffic Safety.\nCONCLUSION: This is the ninth consecutive year that the Police\nDepartment has been awarded a STEP Grant from OTS. As a result of\nlast year’s grant funding, the Police Department was able to create a\nTraffic Safety Program that resulted in a decrease in overall traffic\ncollisions, purchase a new DUI trailer, and was able to assign\nadditional police personnel for traffic enforcement operations\nthroughout the City. This new grant funding will allow the Police\nDepartment to continue its proactive education and enforcement\nefforts in hopes of further reducing injury traffic collisions and\nimproving the safety of the community.\nFISCAL IMPACT: The City will receive $125,000 from OTS’s FY 2025-26\nSTEP Grant Program. This is a reimbursable grant which, upon\nadoption of the attached Resolution and approval of Grant\nAgreement PT26105, will be designated for use by the Police\nDepartment to purchase equipment, provide training, and cover\novertime costs for education and enforcement details.\nATTACHMENTS:\nExhibit 1 - Resolution No. 2025–90\nExhibit 2 - Grant Agreement
