(19) 23-0970 BUDGET, FINANCE AND INNOVATION COMMITTEE REPORT relative to a request for appropriations for outside counsel. Recommendations for Council action, SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE MAYOR: TRANSFER $3,050,000 from the Unappropriated Balance, Outside Counsel Including Workers Compensation line item to the City Attorney, Fund No. 100/12, Account No. 009301. INSTRUCT the Office of the City Administrative Officer (CAO) to report in 2023-24 Financial Status Reports with recommendations to address any spending above the budgeted amount that results from the increases to the contract limits and usage authorized through this report. AUTHORIZE the City Attorney to amend the following contracts to increase their respective authority amounts as follows: C138915, Burke Williams Sorensen, $650,000 C138838, Hurrell Cantral, $450,000 C138839, Lynberg & Watkins, $300,000 C138910, Stone Busailah, $200,000 AUTHORIZE the City Attorney to amend the following contracts to increase their respective authority amounts as follows: C141687, Burke Williams & Sorensen, $300,000 C141690, Hurrell Cantrall, $200,000 C141688, Manning & Kass, $75,000 C141689, Orbach Huff & Henderson, $200,000 AUTHORIZE the City Attorney to amend the following contracts to increase their respective authority amounts as follows: C140512, Liebert Cassidy Whitmore, $100,000 C143507, Liebert Cassidy Whitmore, $200,000 C142641, Nossaman, $950,000 C139027, Remy Moose Manley, $30,000 AUTHORIZE the City Attorney to enter into a new contract with Burke Williams Sorensen in the initial amount of $500,000 for assistance with Coleman v. City of Los Angeles (19STCV25176) and Mahoney v. City of Los Angeles (19STCV16542). AUTHORIZE the City Attorney to amend Contract No. 115552 with Kronick Moskovitz Tiedemann & Girard (for labor advice) to extend its term by one year to May 17, 2024. AUTHORIZE the City Attorney to amend Contract No. 139207 with Remy Moose Manley (FAA Burbank case) to extend its term by two years to May 31, 2025. AUTHORIZE the City Attorney to amend Contract No. 136725 with Rose Klein & Marias (contingency subrogation cases) to extend its term by two years to July 30, 2025. AUTHORIZE the City Attorney to amend Contract No. 132207 with Best Best & Krieger (federal regulatory work for ITA) to extend its term by two years to June 30, 2025. AUTHORIZE the City Attorney or designee to prepare Controller instructions for any necessary technical adjustments, subject to the approval of the CAO, and authorize the Controller to implement the instructions.
