City Council
Agenda Item 49
(49) 240706 MOTION (McOSKER RODRIGUEZ) relative to a donation of 14,069 boxes of nitrile gloves and 2,458 boxes of N95 masks as surplus City equipment to MATTER, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to reducing medical waste by repurposing medical equipment and supplies to aid people and improve environmental sustainability. Recommendations for Council action: 1. FIND that MATTER is eligible to purchase 14,069 boxes of nitrile gloves (2,059 boxes of small gloves; 7,435 boxes of medium gloves; 3,430 boxes of large gloves; and 1,145 boxes of extralarge gloves) and 2,458 boxes of N95 masks below market value ($1.00) in accordance with Los Angeles Administrative Code Section 22.547 (Donation of Surplus City Equipment), as the cost to discard, recycle, or transport the surplus equipment would otherwise impose a net financial cost to the City. 2. REQUEST the City Attorney to expedite preparation of appropriate documents to effectuate the sale and transfer. 3. INSTRUCT the City Clerk to inform MATTER [Steve Gluck, (732) 2788598, 7005 Oxford Street, St. Louis Park, Minnesota 55426] that the surplus equipment must be claimed within 90 days from the date of Council approval of the request or notification of availability of the equipment, whichever occurs later, at which time the equipment will revert to the City’s surplus equipment pool for disposal by the Department of General Services.
