(3) 240947 PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE REPORT relative to protected bicycle lane maintenance. Recommendation for Council action, pursuant to Motion (SotoMartinez – Blumenfield – Raman): DIRECT the Bureau of Street Services, with support from the Los Angeles Department of Transportation and City Administrative Officer (CAO), to report on the following: a. Resources needed (equipment and staffing) per mile to sweep existing protected bicycle lanes every other week. b. An overview of existing practices for protected bicycle lane maintenance, including equipment inventory, equipment transportation needs, staffing needs, cost per mile of maintaining protected bicycle lanes using existing practices, and current protected bike lane maintenance funding mechanisms. c. Best practices review for protected bicycle lane maintenance including frequency, costbenefits analysis of alternative equipment/methods, and additional factors that should be considered identified in this review. Fiscal Impact Statement: Neither the CAO nor the Chief Legislative Analyst has completed a financial analysis of this report.
