12.\nRESOLUTION TO NOMINATE A REPRESENTATIVE FOR THE BOARD OF THE SAN\nGABRIEL BASIN WATER QUALITY AUTHORITY – F2M12-46, R2M25-37\nOn September 22, 1992, Senate Bill 1679 was signed into law by Governor Pete Wilson\nauthorizing the creation of the San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority. The Board of\nthe San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority (WQA) is composed of seven members\nwith three appointed members from each of the three municipal water districts, one elected\ncity council person from cities in the San Gabriel Basin with prescriptive water pumping\nrights, one elected city council person from cities in the San Gabriel Basin without\nprescriptive water pumping rights, and two members representing water producers in the\nSan Gabriel Basin. The election of the city member and alternate of the Board of the WQA\nfrom cities with pumping rights will take place at the regularly scheduled meeting of the\nBoard of the Authority set for December 17, 2025. Nominations for candidates for a city\nmember elected by cities with pumping rights may be made by any city with pumping\nrights. Each city may nominate only one candidate. The City of Alhambra is one of the\ncities in the San Gabriel Basin with prescriptive water pumping rights. The City of\nAlhambra may nominate a representative by resolution from September 18, 2025 through\nOctober 18, 2025. Vice Mayor Jeffrey K. Maloney is currently serving as Alternate Member\nto the Board for the San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority and has expressed an\ninterest in being nominated for the position of representing cities with pumping rights on\nthe WQA. After nominations are collected, a ballot listing the candidates will be sent to\ncities eligible to vote no later than October 30, 2025.\nRecommended Action:\nCity Council adopt Resolution No. R2M25-37 entitled: A\nResolution of the City Council of the City of Alhambra, California nominating\nCouncilmember Jeffrey K. Maloney to represent cities with prescriptive water pumping\nrights on the Board of the San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority
