Update on Major Events Committee Activities, El Segundo Wiseburn\nAquatics Center Facility Use Agreements, and Proposed Initiatives in\nPreparation for FIFA World Cup 2028 and LA28 Olympic and Paralympic\nGames\nRecommendation \n1. Receive and File Update on Major Events Committee Activities ("Major\nEvents" meaning the FIFA World Cup 2026, Super Bowl LXI 2027, and\nthe LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games).\n2. Authorize the City Manager to execute Facility Use Agreements with\ninterested professional teams for the use of the El Segundo Wiseburn\nAquatics Center for training camps leading up to and during the LA28\nOlympics or other professional competitions, at a rate of $80 per lane\nper hour, to off-set equipment procurement costs, operational costs, and\nresident displacement cost; including exclusive use of the 10-lane\ncompetition pool, and access to services and equipment to be provided\nby or procured by the City as part of the agreement.\n3. Provide direction regarding the scope of research and planning for event\nactivation and community engagement.\n4. Provide direction regarding the research and development of a\ntemporary off-site signage policy.\n5. Provide direction regarding the research and development of a policy\nregarding short-term rentals during major events.\n6. Provide direction regarding the research and proposal development for a\ntemporary residential parking protection strategy.\n7. Alternatively, discuss and take other action related to this item.
