20. Election of Mayor\nThe City Clerk presides over the election of the Mayor.\nThe City Clerk, in presiding, places all members of the Council on an equal basis to nominate and elect.\na) Conduct verbal nominations for Mayor and conduct election by roll call vote;\nb) The new Mayor is announced by the City Clerk; and\nc) The Mayor takes his/her proper place at the Council dais.\nElection of Mayor Pro Tem (Item 22)\nThe Mayor presides over the election of the Mayor Pro Tem.\nThe Mayor, in presiding, places all members of the Council on an equal basis to nominate and elect.\na) Conduct verbal nominations for Mayor Pro Tem and conduct election by roll call vote;\nb) The new Mayor Pro Tem is announced by the City Clerk; and\nc) The Mayor Pro Tem takes his/her proper place at the Council dais.\n23. Seating Arrangements for City Council\nCouncil decides on seating arrangement of the Council dais\n(per City Council Policy A-1):\nMembers of the City Council are seated with senior Councilmembers having first choice of seats.\nThe Mayor is seated in the center.\nThe Mayor Pro Tem is seated to the right of the Mayor.\nIf two Councilmembers have equal seniority, the member with the highest margin of victory percentage in the most recent election chooses their seat.
