3.\nADOPT RESOLUTION NO. R2M26-5 ACCEPTING THE 2026 CITY OF ALHAMBRA\nLOCAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN – F2M23-70, R2M26-5, M2M26-41\nIn July 2024, the City of Alhambra initiated a planning process to prepare for and reduce\nthe impacts of identified natural hazards, in accordance with federal requirements set forth\nin the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 (Public Law 106-390). The planning area for the\nHazard Mitigation Plan encompasses the entire City of Alhambra. The result of the\norganizational efforts has been to produce a Federal Emergency Management Agency\n(FEMA) and the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) approved\nmulti-hazard mitigation plan. Hazard mitigation is defined as any sustained action taken\nto reduce or eliminate long-term risk to life and property from a hazard event. Mitigation\nplanning is the systematic process of learning about the hazards that can affect the\ncommunity, setting clear goals, identifying appropriate actions, and following through with\nan effective mitigation strategy. The City of Alhambra Fire Department secured funding for\ndeveloping the Hazard Mitigation Plan with a FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grant.\nThe Plan presents the accumulated information in a unified framework to ensure a\ncomprehensive and coordinated plan covering all departments within the City of Alhambra.\nThe Plan was prepared in accordance with the Cal OES Local Hazard Mitigation Plan and\nFEMA Region 9 preparation guidelines.
