(17)\n26-0232\nBUDGET AND FINANCE COMMITTEE REPORT relative to proposed\nlegal services agreements with various law firms for outside counsel\nassistance with police defense litigation.\nRecommendations for Council action, SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL\nOF THE MAYOR:\n1. APPROVE contracts with Burke Williams & Sorensen,\nLLP; Colantuono Highsmith & Whatley, PC; Orbach Huff &\nHenderson, LLP; and, Reily & Jeffery; for a period of three\nyears, each in an initial amount of $25,000, for outside counsel\nassistance with police defense litigation.\n2. APPROVE a contract with Jones Mayer Law, in an amount of\n$150,000, for outside counsel assistance with police defense\nlitigation.\n3. APPROVE an appropriation of $150,000 for the existing\nContract No. C-204152 with Nathan & Kamionski LLP, and\nexpand the scope of that contract to include outside counsel\nassistance with police defense litigation.\n4. ACKNOWLEDGE that the total of $400,000 will be drawn from\nprior funds transferred to Fund No. 100/12, Account No.\n009301, Outside Counsel, specifically by way of the Fiscal Year\n2025-26 Second and Third (Mid-Year) Financial Status Reports.\n5. AUTHORIZE the City Attorney, or designee, to prepare\nController instructions for any necessary technical adjustments,\nsubject to the approval of the City Administrative Officer\n(CAO); and, AUTHORIZE the Controller to implement the\ninstructions.\n(The City Council may recess to Closed Session, pursuant to\nGovernment Code Sections 54956.9(d)(1) and (d)(2), to confer\nwith its legal counsel relative to discuss the need for additional\noutside counsel assistance and funding.)\nFiscal Impact Statement: None submitted by the City Attorney. Neither\nthe CAO nor the Chief Legislative Analyst has completed a financial\nanalysis of this report.
