F. APPROVAL OF THE USE OF UP TO $18,000 OF ASSET FORFEITURE\nFUNDING FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT TRAINING EQUIPMENT AND\nCOMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MATERIAL\nThe San Gabriel Police Department currently has Asset Forfeiture Funds\nthrough the Equitable Sharing Program. The requested items will be used\nexclusively for Police Department training and community-based events\ndesigned to enhance preparedness, reinforce tactical decision-making, and\nstrengthen positive relationships between the department and the community.\nThese expenditures are intended to support officer safety, skills training and\nproactive community engagement, all of which are core components of\neffective public safety services. Use of Asset Forfeiture Funds for these purposes\nis consistent with the permissible expenditure under state and federal\nguidelines.\nCalifornia Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Determination: Not a Project as\ndefined in Section 15378 of the State CEQA Guidelines.\nRecommended Action:\nStaff recommends that the City Council:\n1. Adopt Resolution No. 26-07 approving the allocation of asset forfeiture\nfunds not to exceed $18,000 for the purchase of law enforcement training\nequipment and community engagement items; and\n2. Authorize the Police Chief or designee to execute related purchases in\naccordance with City procurement policies.
