9.a.\nCONSIDERATION AND APPROVAL TO HOST THE SEM 2026\nINTERNATIONAL SOCCER WATCH PARTIES\nIn just a few months, the eyes of the world will be on Southern California as\nwe co-host the FIFA World Cup26TM. As the tournament kicks off on June\n11, 2026, the City is planning a series of vibrant family-friendly public\nviewing events, SEM 2026 International Watch Parties ("Watch Parties") for\nhigh-demand matches to provide a centralized location for residents and\nvisitors to gather. These events are designed to be high-impact community\ncelebrations that drive foot traffic for local businesses and enhance the\nCity's profile as a premier event destination.\nRECOMMENDED ACTION: Staff recommends City Council:\n1. Authorize the City to host the SEM 2026 International Soccer Watch\nParties events; and\n2. Appropriate from General Fund Balance in the estimated amount of\n$149,253 to the City's Special Events Account (01-151-1543-5952).
