7. APPROVAL OF CONTRACT FOR FISCAL YEARS 2023-2024 AND 2024-2025 WITH\nTHE ALHAMBRA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE – F2M21-43, C2M23-24, M2M23-55\nThe City has contracted with the Chamber of Commerce for many years to provide\npromotional services on behalf of the City. Staff considers the services proposed for Fiscal\nYears 2023-25 and 2024-25 are essential to supporting the business community,\nengaging residents, promoting Alhambra, and encouraging partnerships within the\ncommunity. The following is a summary of a few of the services the Chamber of\nCommerce will be providing under the new contract: Participate with the City to support\nbusiness retention and economic development efforts including providing ombudsman\nassistance between prospective and existing businesses and City staff; and regularly\ncoordinate with property owners, commercial brokers, and developers to help address\nvacancies; Serve as Alhambra’s central information office for the community to promote\nAlhambra as a destination for businesses, residents, tourists, and Chamber members and\nnon-members; Provide special events including Lunar New Year Celebration, Alhambra\nState of the City, and Rose Court Luncheon; Develop guides, informational brochures,\nand digital assets including Alhambra Eats, a marketing website for dining destinations for\nthe community; and, Work with local schools to introduce students to local businesses and\ncareer opportunities including internships. Costs for the Chamber’s services have been\nproposed in the FY 2023-25 budget. The cost of $240,000 (or $120,000 per fiscal year)\nrepresents no increase in contract costs from the current fiscal year.\nRecommended Action: City Council execute a contract, subject of final language\napproval by the City Manager and City Attorney, to the Alhambra Chamber of Commerce\nin an amount not to exceed $120,000 for Fiscal Year 2023-2024 and $120,000 for Fiscal\nyear 2024-2025; and, direct staff to undertake the steps necessary to finalize Council’s\naction.
