6. CONSIDERATION OF A CHIEF OF POLICE CONTRACT WITH GARRETT KENNEDY\n– F2M-71, F2M23-2, C2M23-20, M2M23-66\n3\n4-24-23\nChief of Police Kelley Fraser recently notified the City Manager of plans to retire as of May\n10, 2023. Garrett Kennedy was hired by the City on March 26, 2001 and during his tenure\nwith the Alhambra Police Department, has risen through the ranks as Police Officer, Police\nCorporal, Police Sergeant, Police Lieutenant/Commander and most recently serves as\nAssistant Chief of Police. Under the terms of the Employment Agreement, the Chief shall\noversee the Police Department and its divisions; serve under the direction of the City\nManager; and enforce the execution of all laws and ordinances governing the City of\nAlhambra.\nRecommended Action: City Council approve that certain Employment Agreement\ndesignating Garrett Kennedy as the Chief of Police effective May 11, 2023 on file in the\nOffice of the City Clerk as Contract No. C2M23-20 and by this reference incorporated\nherein and made a part hereof as though fully set forth herein; authorize the City Manager\nto execute the Employment Agreement; and, direct staff to undertake the steps necessary\nto finalize Council’s action.
