6.\nAmendments to Select City Job Classifications and Establishment of Water Meter\nTechnician Series. This item proposes amendments to select City job classifications, including\nPlanning Manager (formerly Principal Planner), Administrative Specialist (formerly\nAdministrative Secretary), Customer Service Representative I/II, and the establishment of a\nWater Meter Technician series to separate office-based customer service functions from field-\nbased utility work. These updates are administrative in nature and do not include changes to\ncompensation.\nRecommendation: That the City Council:\n1. Approve the class specification for Planning Manager and approve the reclassification of\nPrincipal Planner to Planning Manager; and\n2. Approve the class specification for Administrative Specialist and approve the\nreclassification of Administrative Secretary to Administrative Specialist; and\n3. Approve the class specifications for Customer Service Representative I and Customer\nService Representative II (office-based series); and\n4. Approve the class specifications for Water Meter Technician I and Water Meter\nTechnician II; and\n5.
