17. DISCUSSION AND DIRECTION REGARDING AFTERMARKET ELECTRIC VEHICLE\nCONVERSIONS FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS FLEET AND AUTHORIZATION TO\nPURSUE GRANT FUNDING\nRecommendation\nIt is recommended that the City Council:\n1. Provide general direction regarding pursuing aftermarket Electric Vehicle (EV)\nconversions where Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) electric alternatives are\ncurrently unavailable; and\n2. Authorize the City Manager, or designee, to submit a grant application for two (2)\nheavy duty Public Works vehicles through the Transportation Electrification\nAdvancement for Municipalities (TEAM) program funded by the South Coast Air\nQuality Management District (SCAQMD) to provide funding for fifty percent (50%) of\nthe total cost of the vehicles.
