17. ACCEPTANCE OF BEHAVIORAL HEALTH JUSTICE INTERVENTION SERVICE\nGRANT – F2M23-18, M2M23-75\n7\n5-8-23\nOn March 14, 2022, the City Council accepted $245,659 from the Behavioral Health\nJustice Intervention Services Project. Staff have utilized the grant in an effort to increase\ncommunity awareness of the Homeless Outreach Mental Evaluation (HOME) Team which\nis comprised of Alhambra Police Officers, The City’s homeless outreach service provider\n(L.A. CADA) and a Department of Mental Health liaison. Additional funds were made\navailable increasing the grant amount from $245,659 to $308,972 and extending the\nperformance period to June 30, 2023. Additional grant funds will be used to purchase\nelectric bicycles for bike patrol, hygiene kits, community engagement, equipment and to\nextend the L.A. CADA homeless outreach specialist on nights and weekends.\nRecommended Action: City Council accept and additional $63,313 from the\nBehavioral Health Justice Intervention Services (BHJIS) Project; appropriate revenue and\nexpenditure funds in the amount of $63,313; and, direct staff to undertake the steps\nnecessary to finalize the Council’s action.
