19. Initiative Petition entitled “Hotel and Event Center Minimum Wage, Worker Retention, and Hotel\nWorker Safety and Workload Initiative” for the adoption of an ordinance that would require\nAnaheim hotels and event centers (including publicly or privately owned convention centers,\nconcert halls, stadiums, and sports arenas of over 20,000 square feet) to pay their workers\nservice charges and a minimum wage starting at $25/hour, and to retain most of their workers\nfor at least 90 days after an ownership change, mandate the provision of electronic security\nhttps://local.anaheim.net/docs_agend/questys_pub/37571/Agenda.html 5/7\n5/12/23, 1:00 PM https://local.anaheim.net/docs_agend/questys_pub/37571/Agenda.html\ndevices to certain hotel workers, require overtime wages to hotel workers who exceed\nworkload limits, and prohibit mandatory overtime.\nRESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE\nCITY OF ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA, accepting the certification of the Orange County Registrar\nof Voters as to the verification of signatures of the Initiative Petition entitled “Hotel and Event\nCenter Minimum Wage, Worker Retention, and Hotel Worker Safety and Workload Initiative”.\nApprove an increase to the City Clerk’s Fiscal Year 2022/23 budget by $88,906.60 to cover the\ncost of certification of the initiative petition by the Orange County Registrar of Voters.\nMOTION:\nUpon acceptance of the certification of the Orange County Registrar of Voters as to the\nverification of signatures of the initiative and in accordance with the requirements of Section\n1303 of the City Charter and Section 9215 of the California Elections Code, approve one of the\nthree courses of action:\nORDINANCE NO. __________ (ADOPTION) AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF\nTHE CITY OF ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA adopting a Hotel and Event Center Minimum Wage,\nWorker Retention, and Hotel Worker Safety and Workload Initiative pursuant to the provisions\nof Section 1303 of the Anaheim City Charter and Section 9215 of the Elections Code of the\nState of California (A copy of the full text of the proposed ordinance is available for review in\nthe Office of the City Clerk and electronically with the agenda at\nhttp://www.anaheim.net/councilagendas).\nOR\nDirect staff to prepare a resolution for adoption at the June 13, 2023 Council meeting,\nsubmitting the initiative measure to a vote by the electorate of the City, pursuant to California\nElections Code Section 1405.\nMOTION:\nOR\nOrder a report on the effect of the proposed initiative measure pursuant to California Elections\nCode Section 9212 to be presented to the City Council at the June 13, 2023 Council meeting.\nMOTION:
