8.2 AWARD OF CONTRACT AND APPROVAL TO RE CHAFFEE CONSTRUCTION INC.\nFOR THE LARGE ADVANCED METERING INFRASTRUCTURE REPLACEMENT\nPROJECT FY 2022-2023\nComments:\nThe Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) project was initiated in 2018 with the\nreplacement of meters as part of street rehabilitation projects. It is a multi-phased project\nto replace positive displacement read meters, which lose accuracy as they age. Once the\nsystem is fully integrated and installed the meters will send a signal directly to a software\n2\nprogram. This saves staff time and labor. More importantly, the smart meters are able to\ndetect unusually high usage, which will help staff to alert customers if there is a leak.\n(PW)\nRecommendation:\nStaff recommends that the City Council adopt the attached resolution entitled: “A\nRESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AWARDING A\nCONTRACT TO RE CHAFFEE CONSTRUCTION INC. AS THE LOWEST\nRESPONSIBLE BIDDER, IN THE AMOUNT OF $180,475.00 FOR THE LARGE\nADVANCED METERING INFRASTRUCTURE REPLACEMENT PROJECT FY 2022-\n2023; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE AGREEMENT\nAMENDMENTS RELATED TO THE PROJECT; AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO\nEXECUTE THE AGREEMENT”.
