9.6\nSECOND AMENDMENT TO THE NORTH STAR LAND CARE AGREEMENT FOR\nTREE TRIMMING AND TEMPORARY LANDSCAPING SERVICES AND\nAPPROPRIATION OF FUNDS\nComments:\nThe City currently has an agreement with North Star Landcare (North Star) to provide tree\ntrimming, maintenance and inspection services for a not to exceed amount of $850,000.\nRain storms caused damage to several landscaped medians and trees throughout the\nCity that required attention. Los Amigos East and West Parks also need emergency\nmaintenance. The estimated cost of these unforeseen expenses will exceed the annual\ncompensation limit. Staff is requesting that the annual compensation amount be\nincreased in order to cover the additional expenses in the current fiscal year and until the\nterm of the current agreement which expires in December of 2023.\nRecommendation:\nStaff recommends that the City Council adopt the attached resolution entitled: “A\nRESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING A\nSECOND AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH NORTH STAR LAND CARE\nINCREASING THE ANNUAL NOT-TO-EXCEED COMPENSATION BY $140,000 AND\nAPPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNTS TO THE FY2022/23 AND FY2023/24 BUDGETS\nFROM LYNWOOD RECOVERY PLAN MONIES TO THE TREE MAINTENANCE\nDIVISION FOR CONTINUED TREE TRIMMING AND TEMPORARY SUPPLEMENTAL\nSTREET MEDIAN AND GENERAL LANDSCAPING.”
