9K. RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE AUDITOR-CONTROLLER OF THE COUNTY OF\nORANGE TO ADD THE PROTECTIVE SERVICES TAX TO THE TAX ROLL FOR\nFISCAL YEAR 2023/24\nOn August 6, 1985, the City of Stanton voters approved an initiative measure\nestablishing a Protective Services Tax with a 2/3 majority vote. The proceeds from the\nProtective Services Tax are used for fire protection and suppression services provided\nby the City, which are contracted with the Orange County Fire Authority. Each year, the\nCity Council must adopt a Resolution directing the Auditor-Controller to place this\nassessment on the property tax roll.\nRECOMMENDED ACTION:\n1. City Council find that this item is not subject to California Environmental Quality Act\n(“CEQA”) pursuant to Sections 15060(c)(2) (the activity will not result in a direct or\nreasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment) and\n15060(c)(3) (the activity is not a project as defined in Section 15378(b)(4) of the\nCEQA Guidelines, California Code of Regulations, Title 14, Chapter 3, because it\nhas no potential for resulting in physical change to the environment, directly, or\nindirectly); and\n2. Adopt Resolution No. 2023-12, directing the Orange County Auditor-Controller to\nplace the Protective Services Tax on the property tax roll for Fiscal Year 2023/24,\nentitled:\nJune 13, 2023\n“A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STANTON,\nCALIFORNIA, DIRECTING THE AUDITOR-CONTROLLER OF THE\nCOUNTY OF ORANGE, CALIFORNIA, TO ADD THE PROTECTIVE\nSERVICES TAX TO THE TAX ROLL FOR FISCAL YEAR 2023/24”.
