8. RESOLUTION NO. - First Amendment to Contract DA-5482 with Champion Fire Systems, Inc.: To increase the contract authority by $1,200,000, for new total not to exceed $6,600,000, covering fire life safety inspection, testing, and repairs of fire protection and related systems at Los Angeles International Airport and Van Nuys Airport\nPURPOSE: The purpose of the proposed action is to request approval to amend Contract DA-5482 to increase the authority by $1,200,000, for a new not-to-exceed amount of $6,600,000, to allow for continued fire life safety inspection, testing, and repairs on fire protection and related systems at Los Angeles International Airport and Van Nuys Airport.\nRECOMMENDATIONS: Adoption of the Report requesting that the Board of Airport Commissioners determine that this action is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Article III, Class 1 (4) of the Los Angeles City CEQA Guidelines; find that the work can be performed more economically or feasibly by an independent contractor than by City employees; approve the First Amendment to Contract DA-5482 with Champion Fire Systems, Inc.; and authorize the Chief Executive Officer, or designee, to execute said First Amendment after approval as to form by the City Attorney.
