15. CONTRACT AMENDMENT: PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING DESIGN SERVICES\nFOR THE MAIN STREET, FOURTH STREET, AND MISSION ROAD SEWER MAIN\nREPLACEMENT PROJECT – F2M21-58, C2M21-55, M2M23-8\nOn October 11, 2021, the City Council awarded a contract for Engineering Design services\nin the amount of $178,650.00 for the Main Street, Fourth Street, and Mission Road Sewer\nMain Replacement Project to Hunsaker & Associates Irvine Inc. The project was\nadvertised on July 25, 2022 and the bid amounts returned were significantly higher than\nthe budget. On December 12, 2022, the City Council rejected the bids and directed staff\nto review the scope of work, and re-advertise the project at a later date. Staff is proposing\nconstructing the project in two phases over the next two years with one phase of the\nproject occurring each year. This amendment covers the cost to prepare the plans and\nspecifications and provide construction support for each phase of the project. Therefore,\nstaff is recommending a contract amendment in the amount of $49,600.00 to complete the\nproject.\nRecommended Action: City Council approve an amendment, subject to final\nlanguage approval by the City Manager and City Attorney, to the contract by and between\nthe City of Alhambra and Hunsaker & Associates Irvine Inc. for engineering design\nservices for the Main Street, Fourth Street, and Mission Road Sewer Main Replacement\nProject to increase the total contract amount by $49,600.00, and, direct staff to undertake\nthe steps necessary to finalize Council’s action.
