9. AUTHORIZATION TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF’S\nDEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE INMATE MEALS FOR THE PASADENA CITY JAIL (Police Dept.)\nRecommendation: It is recommended that the City Council:\n(1) Find that the project proposed in the agenda report is exempt under the California Environmental Quality Act\n(CEQA) Guidelines Section 15061(b)(3), the “Common-Sense” exemption that CEQA applies only to projects that\nmay have an effect on the environment;\n(2) Authorize the issuance of a five-year contract with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, without\ncompetitive bidding pursuant to City Charter Section 1002(H), contracts with other governmental entities or their\ncontractors for labor, materials, supplies or services in an amount not-to-exceed $125,000; and\n(3) Grant the proposed contract an exemption for the competitive selection process of the Competitive Bidding and\nPurchasing Ordinance, pursuant to Pasadena Municipal Code Section 4.08.049(B), contracts with other\ngovernmental agencies and contracts for which the City’s best interests are served.
