Agenda Item 4
4. APPROVE CITY COUNCIL APPOINTMENTS – F2M22-67, M2M23-3\nAt the December 12, 2022 Council meeting, newly re-elected Councilmembers were\nsworn-in and the City Council reorganized – meaning the offices of Mayor and Vice Mayor\nwere rotated. After each reorganization of the Council, staff submits a list of the City\nCouncil’s appointments to external boards/commissions for approval to ensure the\nappointments stay current and to ensure that any adjustments are made, if needed. This\nlist was provided to the City Council at the January 9, 2023 meeting. At the January 9,\n2023 Council meeting, Councilmember Pérez expressed her interest in representing the\nCity on additional external regional boards/commissions, specifically those with voting\nmembership. After a discussion by Council, it was decided that Councilmember Pérez was\nto be the City’s Member with respect to the League of California Cities Los Angeles County\nDivision, replacing Mayor Andrade-Stadler. Councilmember Pérez was also to be the\nCity’s Alternate Member with respect to the Clean Power Alliance, replacing Mayor\nAndrade-Stadler. Additionally, Councilmember Pérez expressed interest in serving as the\nCity’s Representative with respect to SCAG, a position currently held by Vice Mayor Maza.\nDue to the fact that Vice Mayor Maza was absent from the meeting, the Council decided\nto postpone their discussion and action on the item. Staff was directed to prepare a report\nsummarizing the discussion and the proposed changes for the Council to consider at the\nnext City Council meeting. A list reflecting all of the current City Council appointments as\nwell as the proposed appointments discussed at the January 9, 2023 meeting has been\nprepared by staff.\nRecommended Action: City Council vote to approve the City Council appointments\nto various external boards/commissions as outlined in the January 23, 2023 report by the\nCity Clerk; and direct staff to undertake the steps necessary to finalize Council’s action.\n(M2M23-3)
