7. RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR SPECIFIED GRANT FUNDS\nFROM THE 2022-23 CALIFORNIA STATE BUDGET FOR PARK PROJECTS – F2M23-\n18, R2M23-4, M2M23-9\nOn March 30, 2022, staff submitted a funding request to California Assemblymember Mike\nFong for high-priority projects, including a pocket park at Hellman and Fremont, an\nupgraded xeriscape garden at Burke Heritage Park, book lockers and wi-fi service at\nselected City parks, and electric vehicle charging stations at selected City parks.\nSubsequently, the City was notified that the application was selected for funding in the\namount of $1,700,000 as specified in the 2022/23 California State Budget Sec.\n19.56(b)(1)(Y). The State Department of Parks and Recreation was delegated\nresponsibility by the State Legislature to administer the grant to the City. The State\nDepartment of Parks and Recreation requires an official resolution by the City Council\nwhich provides authority to proceed with the application and receipt of grant funds\npursuant to the policies and procedures for local assistance specified grants.\nRecommended Action: City Council approve an application for specified grants from\nthe 2022/23 California State Budget; adopt Resolution No. R2M23-4 entitled: Resolution\nof the City Council of the City of Alhambra approving application(s) for specified grant\n5\n1-23-23\nfunds from the 2022/23 California State Budget, Sec. 19.56(b)(1)(Y) $1,700,000 to the\nCity of Alhambra for Alhambra Parks to build a pocket park, and upgrade, add wi-fi\nconnectivity, electric charging stations, and book hold lockers at existing parks enabling\nthe submittal of such application in the amount of $1,700,000; appropriate revenue and\nexpenditure funds; authorize the City Manager, or designee, to execute all documents\nrelated to grant implementation; and, direct and authorize staff to undertake the steps\nnecessary to finalize Council’s action.
