3. ESTABLISHMENT OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA ANIMAL CARE\nGRANT PROGRAM AND ADOPTION PROMOTION - At the May 9, 2023, City\nCouncil meeting, the City Council directed staff to implement recommendations to\nenhance existing animal care services. This report provides an update on the action items\ndeveloped and proposes the Animal Care Grant Program and City of Santa Clarita\nAdoption Promotion for approval and appropriation.\nRECOMMENDED ACTION:\nCity Council:\n1. Approve the City of Santa Clarita Animal Care Grant Program and appoint two\nCouncilmembers, and one alternate, to serve on the Animal Care Grants Ad Hoc\nCommittee.\n2. Appropriate ongoing funding in the amount of $50,000 to expenditure account\n1003203-517101 for the City of Santa Clarita Animal Care Grant Program, and\n$10,000 to 1003203-516105 for the City of Santa Clarita Adoption Promotion.\n3. Authorize the City Manager or designee to execute all associated documents, subject\nto City Attorney approval.\nCONSENT CALENDAR\nAll matters listed under the Consent Calendar are considered routine and will be enacted by one\nmotion by the City Council. The items are not individually discussed by the City Council unless\na request is made by a member of the public or the Council, in which case, the item(s) will be\nremoved from the Consent Calendar and will be considered separately.
